Loquats is a proposal for a mural in Vista Village that suggests nature, healthy eating habits, environmentally conscious practices, and growth within the community. This concept emphasizes how public art can inspire local identity and sustainable living.

The wall I selected is located in an area that serves as a busy backdrop for local shops, with frequent foot and vehicle traffic. However, the wall was completely blank, which didn’t add much to the surrounding area. This created a dull and uninspiring environment for the community.

To address this, I designed a mural with a vibrant, nature-inspired theme featuring the loquat, a fruit commonly seen in the area but often overlooked. The loquat serves as a familiar and unifying symbol, fostering a sense of connection and shared identity within the local community.

A mural can transform a space into a welcoming and meaningful environment, creating a sense of safety and belonging. Thoughtful design elements, like familiar local symbols, can leave a lasting impact on those who encounter them, strengthening ties within the community.
